Visio Divina
A quiet way of seeing
We are used to hurrying through life. Here, we are allowing ourselves time to become still and to enter a sacred way of seeing — with the eyes of the heart.
Visio Divina is a contemplative practice of prayer that invites us to look slowly and deeply, allowing an image to become a place of encounter with God.
Allow yourself to receive the image as a gift. There is nothing to work out and nowhere to hurry to. Simply become still, look gently, and remain open to whatever the Holy Spirit may bring to your attention. We enter this time with reverence and an open heart.
Visio Divina moves gently through four movements: Gazing · Reflecting · Responding · Resting
When you press Begin Here, you will be quietly guided through each movement.
This is a guided prayer that unfolds slowly. Each invitation will come in its own time. When the screen grows quiet and still, that silence is part of the prayer.
Let’s become still before God and invite the Holy Spirit to meet with us and guide our seeing.
Holy Spirit, open my eyes and my heart.
Help me to notice what is here
and to receive whatever you may wish to show me.
Amen.
